During the past two days 38 teams have kicked, bribed, ate and donated their way to a phenomenal total of over $13,000 raised for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The 2013 edition of the Kicking Cancer’s Butt tournament was by far the highest amount raised in in the first 4 years of the tournament and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the captains and players, sponsors, and all of those who donated. None of this would have happened without the help of the many volunteers refereeing, barbecuing, baking, serving and looking after the dozens of small parts that go together to make the weekend happen. We couldn’t go much further without saying a special thanks to Dave Walls, who followed up last year’s clown suit shenanigans with single-handedly organising the barbecue and bake sale while simultaneously captaining two individual teams in the tournament. Dave: we really appreciated it!
Over its first 4 years the Kicking Cancer’s Butt tournament has raised over $37,000 for cancer treatment and research right here in our nations capital. We’ll post a run down of the on field action and the various photos and videos over the next couple of days, but for now we would just like to once again say thank you everyone and see you all next year!
